Setting up my small linux box

I have a small Linux box called fit-pc2.  Its function is very week.  But it consume little power. I am using it as a temporary file server. Its address is http://yu.selfip.net.

This box came along with a Ubuntu 8.04.  Its support is outdated.  Updating it resulted in a graphical mode crappy. As I am more familiar with Fedora, I installed one running @ run level 3.  The article is about configuring it to run level 3.

My attitude to Chinese medicine

My attitude to Chinese medicine is clear.  Its theories are rubbish.  They don't even know where human internal organs are, yet CM doctors are still treating these illusory organs nowadays.

The herbs are rubbish.  Some of them can result in irreversible damages, e.g. on kidneys.  Looking up the classical works of CM, shits or urine of human being or other animals appear in the diet every few pages.  There are also other funny ingredients or not that funny ones, e.g. heavy metals, which appear very often.  Side effects of any CM on the market are always stated as "unclear", although they have hurt a lot.

春天来了

房顶上阳面的雪今天差不多化光了，到处能听到淙淙的雪水。地里的雪也都软下来了，许多地方趟过去就像在淌水。

不用再穿那么多衣服了，也不用戴帽子了。和风习习，天晴朗朗的，虽然还只有十度，已经暖得不行。

于是心情大好，长达半年的冬天终于接近尾声。让鸡毛蒜皮的事情见鬼去吧。

Flyspell-mode for emacs

Sometimes enabling flyspell-mode of Emacs on some servers give error.  Using ispell-buffer to check what error it might be.  Usually, it is because the missing of aspell-en package.  So:

#yum install aspell-en

will solve the problem.

吃碘盐抗核辐射指南

被拉了壮丁参加本地的文化节，也可算说是半推半就。十几个项目供选，神差鬼使地我选择了合唱。因为鹰文好些，已经被采访了若干次了。今天报纸这次采访短些：

问：叫啥？
答：Q.

问：稀饭不？
答：非常稀饭!

问：为啥昵？
答：家里不让唱。

问：家里不让唱就来合唱团唱？
答：是的，怕把专业的老婆和儿子带跑了找不回来。

采访到此结束。我猜记者们已经摸着了点。就是不知道他们那个报纸的。

采访要看着美女的脸，后来注意到她居然脸红了。

我听到的蔡旭先生故事

我在北农上学的时候，蔡旭先生已经故去了。今天看佟屏亚的文章（http://xys.org/xys/ebooks/others/science/people/qianxuesen47.txt）算是重温了一下我听到的故事。

我读本科时，校园里竖起了蔡先生的塑像，这是农大校园里最早的塑像。当然老毛那个不能算，农大搬迁回北京没多久就把那个拉倒了。关于蔡先生表态的这个故事我是从我的一个老师那里听到的。“蔡先生上台表态亩产900的时候”，我的那位老师说，“你不知道当时他的脸憋得有多红！当然最后也只有蔡先生的目标实现了。“

蔡先生的塑像就在农学楼的前面，拄着拐杖，仿佛正在走向他的麦田。可惜这样的科学家在中国越来越少。
