From now and then, I need to test some software on my desktop. To prevent crashing my system, it is better to have some virtual systems.
Fedora has its own virtual systems. Thanks to this, I have now have several Linux variations installed on my desktop. This is
the detailed instructions on how to install it. Below is a shortcut.
- # yum install @virtualization
- # service libvirtd start
- Then start virt-manager from the menu (not with a super user privilege)
- Remember images are in /var/lib/libvirt/images
- Use clone to restore a diverted image. Then one doesn't have to struggle to create an 'clean' image again.
Amazon aws also provide some free virtual systems. But the management is much easier to do locally. Their advantage is that it can provide a public IP, so that everybody can have access. For a company, they can just use some 'pocket' money to run a website. They can also provide high computation ability for a fairly low price, if to run shortly.
